1. Two-dimensional model of an anchor of a communication tower's guy cable is shown in Figure E1. The anchor consists of a triangular steel plate, which is subjected to force P as shown in the figure. Thickness of the plate is 8 mm. The maximum displacement of the node, where the force is applied, has to be restricted to 0.1 mm. Compute the largest force P that can be supported by the anchor. Use only one appropriate CST element to model the plate for expeditious analysis. Consider E = 200 GPa and v = 0.25.
