When you first take your Fire tablet out of the box, Amazon has provided you with default settings that will work for most people most of the time. However, we’ve all gotten used to being able to personalize our experience with phone and computer devices, so you may be curious about the various ways in which you can make your Fire tablet work uniquely for you.

A tablet device such as Fire has dozens of settings that help you manage your tablet experience. Some of these settings are discussed in the chapters that cover individual apps, such as the Amazon video player (Chapter 10) and Contacts (Chapter 11). But you may need to review other settings when you start using your Fire tablet. In this chapter I cover Fire’s Quick Settings, the first tier of settings that appear when you swipe down from the top of the screen. Quick Settings are some of the more commonly used settings on Fire tablets.
