Chapter 7. Downlink Transport Channel Processing

In Chapters 7 to 9, we focus on the PHY layer of the LTE radio interface. As introduced in Chapter 6, the PHY layer provides services to the MAC layer through transport channels. In this and the next chapter, we provide a detailed description of physical layer processing on downlink and uplink transport channels, respectively. Data and control streams coming from the MAC layer are organized in the form of transport blocks. Each transport block is a group of resource blocks with a common modulation and coding scheme.
