I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
You learned so much in this chapter! After learning some background history about Terraform origins, we wrote our very first template. Then, we took a quick tour of AWS, just to make sure that we are able to use it. After gaining access to EC2, we created an instance in three different ways:
- Via AWS Management Console
- Via AWS CLI
- With Terraform
Using Terraform, baked by its powerful state file, gives us a lot of benefits, such as smart update management. By now, we already can create, update, and destroy simple infrastructures with Terraform. However, there is yet so much to learn. How do you specify dependencies between resources? How do you keep the ever growing size of template under control? These are the questions we will get answers ...
