CHAPTER 15DEALING WITH, RESISTING, AND THE FUTURES OF, GLOBALIZATION
The reader should find several things jarring about the title of this final chapter. First, there appears to be a lot going on, seemingly too much, in one chapter. Having devoted 14 chapters to discussing numerous aspects of globalization, it would seem to require perhaps an equal number of chapters to discuss adequately all aspects of just the first two topics in the title – the ways in which globalization is dealt with and resisted (although some aspects of both have been touched on earlier; see especially the last sections of Chapters 11 and 14). Then there is the future of globalization which would require another large number of chapters discussing the future of all the issues discussed previously. However, we clearly cannot offer yet another 30, or even 15, chapters; we will need to be content with this one chapter which can do little more than give a sense of the way people and collectivities have dealt with, resisted, and sought to shape globalization, and offer a few broad brush ...
