I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Building an HTML and JavaScript chat client
In order for the users of our chat application to interact with the server and therefore other users, we need to write some client-side code that makes use of the web sockets found in modern browsers. We are already delivering HTML content via the template when users hit the root of our application, so we can enhance that.
Update the chat.html file in the templates folder with the following markup:
