17.1 Introduction: Amplitude Envelope Effects
This chapter introduces several audio effects based on a signal’s amplitude envelope. These effects combine many other processors including: spectral processors (Chapters 12 and 13), nonlinear processors (Chapter 10), summing, and amplitude modulation (Chapter 8). Additionally, this chapter provides the foundation for the processing used in the dynamic range effects described in Chapter 18.
