Mean absolute error (MAE) is another statistical method that helps to measure the distance (error) between two continuous variables. A continuous variable can be defined as a variable that could have an infinite number of changing values. Though MAEs are difficult to compute, they are considered as better performing than MSE because they are independent of the square function that has a larger influence on the errors.
