The first version of ASP.NET was released in 2002 when Microsoft decided to invest in web development. They released ASP.NET Web Forms, which is a set of UI components that we can use to build web interfaces. The core idea of this approach was to provide a very high-level abstraction tool that can produce a GUI for the web. Providing this level of abstraction was a good idea because developers were not familiar with the web. However, ASP.NET Web Forms came with a lot of downsides.
