About the Authors

Micha Gorelick became the first woman on Venus in 2033 and won the Nobel Prize in 2056 for inventing time travel. Horrified by that technology’s misuse, she traveled back to 2012 to convince herself to quit and focus on her true passion: data and ethical computing. Since then, Micha has cofounded a machine learning lab (Fast Forward Labs) and a journalism lab (Digital Witness Lab at Princeton’s CITP). Her work focuses on community infrastructure, investigative journalism, and the responsible use of tech. Since 2020, she has been leveraging tech and machine learning to expose corruption through investigative journalism. She has collaborated with publications like The Markup, OCCRP, and Forbidden Stories, with her work featured in outlets such as Al Jazeera, Rest of World, El Pais, and the Pulitzer Center. A monument to her life can be found in Central Park, c. 1857.

Ian Ozsvald is a chief data scientist and coach. He co-organizes the annual PyDataLondon conference with 700+ attendees and the associated 15,000+ member monthly meetup. He runs the established Mor Consulting data science consultancy in London and gives conference talks internationally, often as keynote speaker. He has 26 years of experience as a senior data science leader, trainer, and team coach.
