A LOT OF THE MAGIC OF AFTER EFFECTS LIES IN WHAT YOU DON'T SHOW, as much as it does in what you do show. So, in this chapter, we're going to look closer at masks — what makes them tick, and also some cool tricks that you can do with them.
We'll also spend some time looking at tangential topics, such as shapes and mattes. After surveying other books and tutorials online, I find that the real jewels of these features aren't really discussed that much. So hopefully, there will be some new tricks in this chapter that allow you to take your art to the next level.
