Workflow Management/Business Process Re-engineering

9.1 Introduction

There is a blurred line between the differences of these two activities. In short—

 

   1.  Work flow management can be done quickly, and usually involves minor and low-cost changes that improve workflow.

   2.  New business process re-engineering is really a complete and radical re-design of the entire process. It takes a long time to do and in most cases, the new process has no resemblance to the process it replaces.

 

9.2 Workflow Management in Action

In all the instances where significant improvement has been made in workflow management, the same criteria seem to have been present:
