Scorecards and Metrics
IBM Cognos Business Intelligence v10.1 provides the mechanisms for you to gather, load, and consume key performance indicators, also known as metrics, with the use of IBM Cognos Metric Designer and IBM Cognos Metric Studio. You can use Cognos Metric Designer to gather metrics from data sources and prepare them for use in Cognos Metric Studio. Cognos Metric Studio enables users to monitor the performance of the business using metrics to track relevant measurable goals aligned with a broader strategy, such as a Balanced Scorecard. You can read about the Balanced Scorecard methodology in Chapter 2.
NOTE Metric store data can be sourced for other Cognos BI uses, such as reports and workspaces.
