Let's start with an analogy; in foundries (casting companies), very hot metal is poured into a mold. Once it cools, the mold is removed. If the company has a perfect mold and a perfect pour, the casting will be virtually perfect. If it is not a good mold, or there is a problem with the pour, the company must hire people and provide equipment to repair, grind, and polish the resulting poor castings.
