Up to this point, we have been talking about suggestions and ideas that are within the employee’s job description. Now we want to discuss ideas that are outside of the employee’s responsibility, for example, a secretary who suggests use of a different printer because it would improve productivity; a test operator who suggests redesigning a test fixture so the parts cannot be put in backward; or the repair technician who suggests using a different part because it will last longer in a specific application. These are all good ideas that will save the organization money and improve its reputation. As a result, the organization should be willing to share the savings from these ideas with the employees who made the suggestions. ...
