Definition

Assimilation stress: The stress put on an individual or organization whenever a change is made, either negative or positive. It is the stress that is required to overcome the status quo. At any one point in time, the total assimilation stress is the accumulated stress of all of the individual assimilation stresses. The stress factor you experience is a combination of personal stress (divorce, moving, having a baby, etc.) plus the stress as related to the work environment and potential new projects.

Future shock: The point at which people can no longer assimilate change without displaying dysfunctional behaviors.
