There are several things to learn about data before actually applying analytics to it. Data understanding is the first step in a robust analytics process.

We will look first at the different scales—both categorical and numeric (continuous). We will then delve deeper into data-collection methodologies and data sampling. Important aspects of data quality and sampling errors will also be discussed.
