11 Finalizing the Schedule and Budget

• Create a budget baseline.
In Chapter 6, we created a preliminary schedule and some preliminary cost estimates. Since then, we have refined our project plan by defining the quality plan, developing the team, defining communication needs, and planning for risk. Now we can finalize our schedule to create a schedule baseline and finalize our budget to create a cost baseline. These baselines will be approved by the project sponsor or by the client, and the project manager will manage the project and monitor progress against them.
