20.1 Introduction

Electrical energy is particularly useful for the reason that it can be distributed and converted to other desired forms of energy due to its inherent versatility. At present, the main source of electrical energy is the mechanical form, either direct (as in hydraulic turbine) or from heat (as in steam turbine) or from chemical energy (as in batteries).
