About the Author

Erik Laykin, CHFI, CEDS, is a Managing Director of Duff & Phelps, LLC, Disputes Practice in Los Angeles and was a founding Co-Chair of its Global Electronic Discovery and Investigations Practice. Focused on large-scale international corporate investigations and high-stakes litigation issues in which computer forensics and electronic discovery play a major role, Mr. Laykin is often appointed as an expert witness, e-discovery neutral, or special master in state and federal courts.

In the 1990s, Mr. Laykin was the cofounder of Online Security, Inc., one of the world's first computer forensic consulting firms, and helped establish the first commercial computer forensic labs in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Hong Kong. Later, as the chair of Navigant Consulting's Information Technology Investigations practice, Mr. Laykin assisted in the expansion of that firm's global computer forensic and electronic discovery footprint in Asia, Europe, and the Americas while assisting clients with discovery, technology, and cybercrime challenges in the United States and abroad.

Mr. Laykin is a frequent contributor on the converging space of law, technology, and fraud for the media and industry conferences. He has worked on numerous groundbreaking Internet-based investigations and examinations of corporate fraud.
