So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Składowanie jest kamieniem węgielnym cyklu życia inżynierii danych (rysunek 6.1) i stanowi podstawę jego głównych etapów — pozyskiwania, transformacji i serwowania. W trakcie cyklu życia dane są składowane wiele razy. Parafrazując stare powiedzenie, jest to „składowanie aż do samego spodu”. Niezależnie od tego, czy dane będą potrzebne za kilka sekund, minut, dni, miesięcy albo lat, muszą być utrwalone w pamięci, dopóki systemy nie będą gotowe do ich wykorzystania w celu dalszego przetwarzania i przesyłania. Znajomość przypadków użycia danych i sposobu ich odzyskiwania w przyszłości jest pierwszym krokiem do wyboru odpowiednich rozwiązań pamięci masowej dla Twojej architektury danych.
