Playing video
Equipment needed: An iPad with some video content on it (see Chapter 10) or an Internet connection for watching YouTube videos. Earphones or speakers, if you'd like to use them.
Skills needed: Good command of gestures, including tapping and dragging.
In Chapter 10, you see how to add video content to your iPad, such as vintage TV shows and Hollywood blockbusters. The chapter particularly looks at buying or renting films and TV shows via the iTunes Store. In this chapter, we cover how to play this video content and also explore options for accessing video from other sources. The most obvious option here is video footage you've taken yourself. As long as you have an iPad with cameras (any iPad except the very first model), you'll be able to shoot videos on it. We look at how to do this in Chapter 13.
Watching videos on your iPad
If you have the latest iPad or the iPad mini (or have updated to the latest version of the iPad operating system), you should find two apps for playing video:
• Videos: This app is used to watch videos you've bought or downloaded from iTunes (see Chapter 10). If you try to play a music video in the Music app, you hear the music but don't see the video.
