Ethertype Field

Table B-1 lists possible values for the Ethertype number. You can find the complete list at http://www.iana.org/assignments/ethernet-numbers. Transmission of IP datagrams over Ethernet is defined in RFCs 894 and 895. The Ethertype for IPv6 is, as Table B-1 shows, 86DD.
