Chapter 10. Change Management

Introduction

Change management is one of the most critical of systems management processes. In Chapter 21, “Integrating Systems Management Processes,” Table 21-2 lists the 12 processes in order of the most interaction with other disciplines. The process of change management easily tops the chart as having the most interactions with other disciplines.

We begin with the definition of change management and point out the subtle but important difference between change control and change coordination. We next present some of the common drawbacks of most change management processes taken from recent surveys of leading infrastructure managers.
