Loudness Normalization
A Standardized Measure of Loudness
The loudness revolution has arrived, and is widely implemented throughout European broadcast networks and after Dec. 13, 2012, on U.S. television. This will eventually affect all recorded sound in specific ways. In Europe, both TV and radio sound levels are measured by the international ITU standard BS.1770-3, and are regulated by the European Broadcast Union (EBU) recommendation R128.
