Sometimes the lure of technology overshadows reason. Regardless of where one finds and may perceive improvements to the way a firm produces the metrics necessary to run an efficient operation, a business case must be developed to justify expenditures in time and money to upgrade. In addition, writing a business case is an opportunity to analyze the feasibility in a structured manner and whether it can be successfully accomplished in tough economic environments. (See Figure 2.1.)
