Chapter 2ANOVA with a Single Blocking Effect

In this chapter, we closely examine experiments with one random blocking effect, like the Cell Viability example of Chapter 1. We begin by highlighting a few example scenarios in Section 2.1, then we introduce new statistical concepts and the statistical models needed in this chapter in Section 2.2. Finally, we work through the introduced examples, first with instructions for running these models in JMP and JMP Pro and then exploring and interpreting the output.

2.1 Motivating Examples

We explore the following two examples.
