HTML PAGE TITLES
At the top of every HTML web page is something called an HTML page title. In Figure 33-3, the HTML page title is at the very top-left corner, and it says About Fictitious Elementary School.
The HTML page title is simply the article title, repeated at the top of the web browser. In Google and other search engines, the HTML page title becomes the clickable text you see in search results.
The About Fictitious Elementary School page has a reasonable HTML page title, because you know what to expect on that page from such a title. However, if you were to look at the Calendar page, the HTML page title is Calendar. That doesn't say which organization's calendar is displayed here or why it is important.
A great way to enhance your HTML page titles is to include your site name in the HTML page title. The site name was configured as part of the Joomla installation, and you can change it in the Global Configuration. Look under the Site Name field, under Site Settings (refer to Figure 33-1).
To pair the site name with the article title, you'll need to download, install, and configure a plugin. My friend and longtime engineering partner, Bill Tomczak, has written such a plugin called Site Name, available for download at www.grumpyengineering.com/free-downloads/all/doc_details/1-site-name. Click the Download button (see Figure 33-4), agree to the terms, and click Proceed. ...
