This appendix can help you if you have a site ranked and want to see what you can do to increase your ranking. Much of the information here is based on two 2007 studies about ranking in Google from SEOmoz.org (see www.seomoz.org/article/search-ranking-factors) and Sistrix (see www.free-seo-news.com/newsletter265.htm).
The number-one factor in ranking a page on search engines is the title tag. These are the words inside the <title> tags of a page’s source, and they appear in the blue bar of a browser.
Choose the title of an article very carefully: Joomla can be set to use the title of the article in the title tag.
