In this chapter, we explored the Keras Functional API as the solution to sequential models’ limitations. We introduced the explicit layer connection syntax that enables complex neural architectures such as residual networks with skip connections and multibranch models. Through practical case studies, we demonstrated real-world applications, including ResNet for classification, Siamese networks for similarity learning, and U-Net for image segmentation.
