Abstract
This Chapter examines concepts/roles of “Blended-Mode Instruction” (BMI) as emerging “knowledge management” (KM) platform during “Industrial Revolution” (IR) aiming at promoting “Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics” (STREAM) education in three Southeast Asian (SEA) Countries and China. Cases from Thailand, Indonesia and China will be illustrated through Qualitative “Exemplary-Case Analysis” (ECA) technique, focusing programs/ initiatives leveraging on BMI to provide lifelong learning opportunities for all. An overview of global trends in literacy and lifelong learning is provided. Qualitative literature research is made to operationally define BMI, KM, IR4.0, STREAM literacy, local wisdom, etc. Issues and challenges faced by individuals (especially in aging societies) who lack access to educational opportunities/resources for STREAM education to prepare for IR4.0 are elaborated. ...
