11 Extending photography
This chapter discusses six imaging techniques that deviate from the ‘usual’ techniques discussed up to this point in the book. They may require particular skills, material and apparatus such as special filters, sensors or films, dedicated lenses, viewing devices, etc. Infrared (IR) photography, ultraviolet (UV) reflectance and UV fluorescence photography are often used to capture scene properties that are not distinct enough or are even invisible under visible light. Underwater photography needs specialized waterproof equipment. Panoramic photographs can be created using an array of techniques and equipment, from conventional to very specialized.
