Many leaders and elected officials consider co-location a great way to save money. Having looked at more than a dozen co-located examples, I’m not persuaded by this reasoning. Some co-located efforts save very little money. And agencies can remain co-located and save a few bucks a year, yet realize none of the other important benefits of co-location.
The real promise of co-location has to do with its potential for collaboration, and its impact on your mission—improved customer service, increased tempo of operations, higher quality products.
