The BASICS® Lean Leadership Development Path (see Figure 3.1) starts with using the BASICS® model to create the standards for our processes. We are only going to cover small portions of the BASICS® tools model in this book. The book BASICS® Lean Implementation Model (see Figure 3.2) is a must-read for leaders and describes in detail how to implement one-piece flow or small-lot production lines. We use BASICS® for any type of process from high-mix, low-volume to low-mix, high-volume lines. Lean was originally designed for high-mix, low-volume lines.
