After “Baseline,” is Step 2, which is “Analyze” and “Suggest Solutions” in the BASICS® Leadership Development Path (see Figure 5.1). During this section, there is a concentration on “Learning to Solve.” This is where our team members and leaders learn to solve by analyzing and suggesting solutions to close gaps as they arise throughout our business practices whether on the shop floor or in administrative areas and is composed of the following (see Figure 5.2):

  • Learn the Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) problem-solving process with A3 thinking
  • Create ownership for stopping the line
  • Learn principles of mistake proofing, poka yoke, jidoka, and fixing ...
