When built-in functions don’t provide the functionality that your database requires, and you find yourself reusing portions or entire calculation formulas repeatedly with little or no modification, it’s time to create a custom function. Custom functions make possible the creation of open-ended, reusable code that reduces the complexity and repetition in the formulas that call them.
