Chapter 7 A Message for Leadership of Systems
What is Leadership?
Before I present, as the chapter title states, my message to leadership, I think it might be meaningful to put some kind of definition on the term “Leadership.” [1] Bill Dettmer, one of the foremost authorities on systems thinking, in one of his white papers, defines leadership as, “The exercise of power to influence people to do willingly, in a coordinated way, what they may not be under any obligation to do.”
