It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

How do you build a house? You start with a vision, and then you develop a blueprint that captures that vision down to the specifics: everything from the wiring to the doorknobs. But even at the end of the blueprint process, you’re still a long way from a finished and functioning house!
In this section, we look at how the best PE firms “build the house” through a process of accelerating performance. This process is a combination of many separate activities that influence and reinforce each other. It involves molding the organization to the blueprint and monitoring its success. It involves setting up mechanisms to move the blueprint forward and to motivate and reward the key players.
