While crypto art has been around for a decade, it has only been in the last year or two that the market has reached a fever pitch. NFT art sales brought in U.S.$2.57 billion in 2021 compared to U.S.$20 million in 2020.1
In March 2021, an NFT entitled Everydays: The First 5,000 Days, a collage created by the digital artist Mike Winkelmann, a.k.a. Beeple, was sold at Christie’s for a record U.S.$69 million.2
A few months prior, Beeple sold a series in December 2020 for U.S.$3.5 million.3
