It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Minecraft ist ein echtes Phänomen. Im Mai 2009 begann der Schwede Markus »Notch« Persson mit der Entwicklung des Spiels, das nicht nur als eines der meistverkauften Spiele aller Zeiten in die Geschichte eingehen und ihn zum Milliardär machen sollte, sondern auch die gesamte Spielebranche von Grund auf ändern sollte.
Gestartet als Ein-Mann-Projekt wird Minecraft heute von einem Team von über 30 Mitarbeitern stetig weiterentwickelt und hat sich inzwischen über 22 Millionen Mal verkauft. Vorläufiger Höhepunkt der Erfolgsgeschichte: Im Jahr 2014 verkaufte Minecraft-Erfinder Notch das Spiel samt zugehörigem Entwicklerteam für 2,5 Milliarden US-Dollar an den Software-Riesen Microsoft.
