About the Author

Sean Walton received his master of science degree in computer science in 1990 from Brigham Young University, specializing in merging language and multitasking theory. In 1988 he was hired by the BYU computer science department as a consultant in developing theory and methods for transputer process management, migration, and communication. He began working with BSD sockets while he was an administrator for the computer science department. While he worked for Hewlett-Packard, he developed the automatic language detection (between PostScript and PCL) feature found on LaserJet 4 and later. He also developed a real-time micro operating system for the 8052 microcontroller for emulating printer engines.
