Abstract
For well-being and good health, indoor air quality (IAQ) is an important concern as most of the people spend almost total of their time in different types of buildings. Research in IAQ is gaining momentum and multidisciplinary interest rapidly. Artificial intelligence (AI) methods have significantly transformed the research in the area of IAQ prediction due to their outstanding performance. Due to the increasing availability of IAQ data and the rapid expansion of AI techniques, it is vital to investigate the development of IAQ forecasting using AI techniques in a complete and quantitative manner. Therefore, an overview of IAQ and AI is presented in the first portion of this chapter. Further, relevant parameters of IAQ and its effects and sources are mentioned in the next section. In the process, frontier research carried out in the domain of IAQ with the application of AI was explored by adopting state-of-the-art literature. This chapter gives useful information on the future of AI-based IAQ forecasting. Readers will benefit from a more integrated view of IAQ and associated AI techniques within the built environment.
