FRANK SLOOTMAN SPENT nearly five years as Snowflake’s CEO. He led Snowflake brilliantly through tough and triumphant times and left a mark on the company that will never fade. He announced his departure from the top job the day Snowflake reported nearly $2.8 billion in revenue for its fiscal year ending on January 31, 2024. His successor, Sridhar Ramaswamy, arrived at Snowflake the previous year as cofounder of Neeva, which Snowflake had acquired. Sridhar obtained his undergraduate degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and his PhD in computer science from Brown University. Prior to Snowflake, he spent 15 years ascending from the role of a software engineer to executive management in the technology industry. Frank spent a great deal of his time focused on sales and marketing. Sridhar is an engineer, a numbers guy, and he wants to boil everything down to a one and a zero. Though he may not know about enterprise sales, he’s an amazing operations person and knows how to run efficient organizations such as Snowflake’s engineering team. He’s all about creating structure and process for scale and is very good at understanding the business, building the right structures and scaling for the future. He was also the obvious choice to lead Snowflake through the generative AI race.
