Figure 2.1 reminds us that whatever we seek to achieve under the broad heading of “ESG” must be informed by, and linked to, our wider organizational strategy. Any initiative or “target” not so informed must be declared as “suspect” and should be open to challenge. A soundly run organization continually reviews its business context to ensure it is pursuing the right strategy, overall.
