The Excel spreadsheet program is a general purpose tool designed for working with numbers and data of all different kinds. As you might expect, it has a lot of tools and features for working with financial information. When you are using Excel to work with the templates, it can be useful to have at least a basic familiarity with the way Excel works. That’s the purpose of this chapter—to give you a fundamental understanding of how Excel works with data in general and financial data in particular.
