The basis of UK health and safety law is the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HSW Act). The Act sets out the general duties which employers have towards employees and members of the public. It also covers the responsibilities we have to ourselves and to others. This is a fundamental piece of legislation that governs our responsibilities at work. This theme will look at how the legislation has developed to adapt to new ways of working and to improve the welfare of employees.
