Chapter 14. The Tool Chest: Parts Lists and Part Builder

Before you can begin modeling and designing your pipe network (which will be discussed in Chapter 15, "Running Downhill: Pipe Networks"), consider what components you'll need in your design. Civil 3D allows you to build a parts list that contains the specific pipes and structures you'll need at your fingertips while designing a pipe network. Civil 3D installs a large part catalog, as well as an interface for customizing pipe-network parts if necessary. In addition, the parts list enables you to specify how each pipe and structure will look and behave in a design situation. This chapter explores creating a parts list for a typical sanitary sewer network.
