Generators
The majority of the modules in the Design Accelerator add-in are generators. Generators not only perform calculations; they also automatically generate the underlying geometry. This can be a real time-saver, especially when you are talking about complex geometry such as helical gears or chains or synchronous belts. Next you will take an in-depth look at several of these generators.
Gear Generator
There are three gear families in Inventor: spur gears, bevel gears, and worm gears. The use of spur gears in the design of the gearbox, shown in Figure 11.24, will be explained here.
