What is DynamoDB?

DynamoDB is a fully managed, Internet scalable, easily administered, and cost effective NoSQL database. It is a part of database as a service-offering pane of Amazon Web Services.

The next diagram shows how Amazon offers its various cloud services and where DynamoDB is exactly placed. AWS RDS is a relational database as a service over the Internet from Amazon, while Simple DB and DynamoDB are NoSQL databases as services.
