So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
In this chapter, we briefly discussed what a Build Automation System is, why do we need it, and why Gradle is a popular Build Automation System. You also learned how to install Gradle and we created our first Gradle script. Then we discussed the command-line options, GUI support, cache management, and startup scripts. Finally, we concluded the chapter working with Eclipse IDE with the Gradle Plugin to develop a simple Java application.
All the build scripts developed in this chapter were written in Groovy, but we have not talked about it. So, in the next chapter, we will learn some basic concepts of the Groovy programming language. Next chapter is meant mainly for developers who already have some basic knowledge of Java and object-oriented ...
